The acetylation technology allows for the application of glued laminated timber even in outdoor areas where it is under high stress and exposed to natural weathering. The basic raw material is the pine species Pinus Radiata. By the acetylation process the dimensional stability is considerably increased due to the greatly reduced swelling and shrinkage behaviour of the timber. The handling is similar to that of untreated timber. Accoya® is nontoxic and can thus easily be recycled or reused. GLT ACCOYA opens up completely new chances for architects, designers and project developers in their use of glued laminated timber.
