"Phoenix Central Park" takes top prize in NSW Architecture Awards

"Phoenix Central Park" takes top prize in NSW Architecture Awards. The unique and multi-faceted project in Sydney, Australia claimed multiple prizes at Friday's NSW Architecture Awards, including the top honor, the NSW Architecture Medallion, the Sir Arthur G. Stephenson Award for Commercial Architecture and the John Verge Award for Interior Architecture. Congratulations to John Wardle Architects and Durbach Block Jaggers and all involved.

Phoenix Central Park - Performance Space

This unique and multi-faceted project in Sydney, Australia combines a garden, an event space and an art gallery. The extraordinarily complex cross laminated timber components were already shipped to Australia in winter 2018/2019 and subsequently assembled within eight weeks. The assembly of this project resembled a large-format puzzle - a total of 162 single and individual cross laminated timber layers were installed one above the other in an already existing room. The especially high degree of prefabrication and the millimetre-precise CNC production are equally impressive.

"The hours invested in advance by our design engineers in the three-dimensional assembly planning have paid off completely. It is always a nice feeling when the interaction between the structural engineering, design, production, shipping and assembly departments works well and results in such a project".
