TIMBER LIMITLESS

  • Description

Grosvenor Square London - Arrivals Court

Located in a historic apartment building in Grosvenor Street, London, between 2018 and 2021 a special wall and ceiling glulam curved coffered structure was created. The free-form hybrid glulam components enhance the interior of a reception hall (Arrivals Court). The core of the components consists of conventional spruce glued laminated timber and only the outer glulam lamellas, which are visible, are made of the finest walnut glued laminated timber. The construction has a unique look and gives the interior an elegant and very high-quality overall appearance. The hybrid glulam structure was realised using a special production technology. This process has already been successfully applied to various projects in recent years. The special feature is that the hybrid construction also allows free-formed, three-dimensional components, and is therefore particularly popular with architects and planners in the interior design sector. In addition, almost any type of wood can be used as a surface.
